Er interessiert sich nur fur die Biologie, die er in auBergewohnlichem MaBe beherrscht, fUr die Chemie mit ihren Konstitutionsformeln, fur mikroskopische Anatomie, Gewebslehre. Noch im ersten Semester entschlieBt er sich, Breslau zu verlassen und an die erst neugegrundete Universitat StraBburg iiberzusiedein. In dieser Zeit, Mitte der siebziger Jahre, bringt die Anilinfarbenindustrie in Deutschland neuartige Praparate auch fur die biologische· Analyse heraus, die den jungen Studenten Paul Ehrlich besonders interessieren.
