After the first day at the meeting, Rensi and a couple of other white McDonald’s executives were joined in their room at the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove, Illinois by African Americans Roland Jones and Joe Brown. ‘‘They proceeded to teach us what it was like to be black in America and, more particularly, what it was like to be black in McDonald’s,’’ Rensi recalls.
