We then provide an overview of collaborative interventions for externalizing problems (Chapter 4), internalizing problems (Chapter 5), and academic problems (Chapter 6). 2 Introduction to Emotional, Behavioral, and Learning Problems in School-Age Children Emotional and behavioral problems are common reasons for referral to mental health and educational professionals within the school system.
Substance-related disorders include difficulties relating to the use/abuse of substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.
